#HouseOfNext Event

Strolling the streets of Grovesnor Square and I’m met with a beautiful white building, complete with a big blue bow, a Christmas wreath hanging upon the door and a Next branded cab (which was actually a photo booth!) parked outside. I was home – for the day anyway!

The House of Next was my humble, albeit exceptionally Christmassy, abode for the morning.

Roaming the rooms and silently squealing with excitement at all the wintery wares – the house was full with all the things we can expect to see online and in stores come October, ready for the most wonderful time of the year. I’ll admit, at first, it felt strange to be walking around a cosy winter wonderland in mid-July when it’s almost 30 degrees outside. In little to no time though, I was all up in the Christmas vibe and heart eyesing at some of the amazing gifts, gadgets and garments being showcased throughout.

I was invited along by Next to enjoy the Fashion Panel hosted by Angela Scanlon with guests Lynne McKenna (Editor, Fabulous Magazine), Katherine Ormerod (Editor of WorkWorkWork) and Julie Anne Sloan (Next Womenswear Buying Manager) talking about all things ‘getting dressed’. Be that their go-to outfits, ideas for wedding wear, top tips for showstopping at a Christmas party and how to accessorise. It ended with a quick Q&A session before we could take a sneak peek at the rails lining the walls of the room with all the new A/W18 stock!

I’m allowed to share with you some of my favourite pieces gracing the store in the cooler seasons so feast your eager eyes on these beauties.

I’m in love with this Lipsy dressand have the perfect occasion to wear it later in the year too. I love the deep red colour – it’s perfect for the Christmas period and can be glammed up or toned down for any occasion throughout winter. The V neck adds a hint of sexiness whereas the long sleeves subdue it slightly. The detail to the lower part flatters the waist and legs too. I’d team with a cute pair of red or nude heels and perhaps a faux fur stole, tousled low bun and a killer wing on the eyes – not forgetting to mention a red lip to go with it.

I found the bag of dreams. In fact, two bags of dreams. It’s the same bag just in two colours and I want (strikethrough) need them both. These velvet side bags are simply stunning but also very statement and would make any outfit pop. I tend to wear a lot of darker colours in the winter so teaming it with one of these beauties would really bring an ‘all black everythang’ look to life. I love the contrasting gold detail to the front and with the strap – and gold is always in over winter amirite?! They are so soft and, following advice from Katherine during the fashion panel, I check and they can fit my phone inside!

Finally this super cute pink fluffy jumper from a brand I’d never heard of before (yep, Next stock loads of brands too!) but it was super cosy and had a sweet bow tie on the back at the nape of the neck. I can see me wearing this A LOT over the colder months with a pair of ripped knee black skinny jeans and Chelsea boots, a black leather mini skirt and thigh-highs or simply with a pair of thick, thermal lined leggings and Ugg boots. I’ts definitely on the winter wishlist.

They were my top three picks from the fashion lineup this year but you’ll be pleased to know – there’s no real set theme. From the looks of it anything goes and it’s all about owning your outfit and putting your true fashionista out in the open. Think all the patterns, all the prints and all the pelage (faux of course!). There’s glitter and sequins for those who like to sparkle, there’s bold emerald greens with contrasting colour blocks, leopard is so going to be in and a pastel coverup is on the cards to compliment the boldness.

Next have got perfumes down this year, the scents are just as beautiful as the bottles. Perfume is a perfect giftall year round and when they are as pretty as the ones Next have on offer – you can’t go wrong. I loved the scented tree, complete with open baubles filled with all the different ingredients you might find within some of their range. From warm and woody to fresh and floral, there’s something for everyone.

They’re also killing it with their makeup range right now. As a huge lover of anything rose gold, the packaging is on point, the shades are sublime and let me tell you about the longevity of the lipsticks!

I think this is the first time I’ve mentioned it on the blog but… we’re actually moving house soon so I was eyeing up all the homeware and thinking about how I can make our new house super festive. We’ve got a lot more space for a tree and areas we can decorate with ornaments and trinkets. Next have got my personal style down to a T with this years decorations - although I'm 100% a rose gold fiend, I'm all about the glisten of silver glittery bits and bobs in the winter.

I love these wooden reindeer ornaments with their golden antlers. They're not too garish or OTT Christmassy either which, whilst I'm as Christmassy as they come in December, keep it cool throughout the rest of winter.

And with us moving, this will likely mean we'll be hosting Christmas dinner this year for the first time in the new house. That being said means we'll need some fancy-pants dinnerware to dine from and these golden splatter ones will do just the trick! Funnily enough, the 'everday' dinnerware I've chosen is also from next too! I'm also a little bit in love with these irridescent goblets - can you image your Christmas day Sherry in one of those!

I've got all the christmas feels now thanks to Next and their beautifully decorated house. It's given me so much inspiration to make ours super festive for our first christmas in the new one!

What's your favourite thing from the event?
